Importing / Exporting Settings

Posted by GEN3RIC

If you restart, you'll notice an update. From the Dashboard tab, you can import and export two kinds of data -- the server list (passwords are hashed, secure to anybody's eyes) and their respective Auto Admin settings, and the in-game admin permissions/kickban reasons.  This makes it so you should be able to back up/share your data easily.

There is one other feature I've made available to those with clans who may have a rather large group of members who are on the reserved list but don't like to enter them in manually.  Right now you can load up a CSV file (comma-separated values) and it will add any players that don't already exist in the Reserved list.  It will parse out any spaces that you've accidentally added, but ideally the format will look like this:

Player1,Player2,Player3,Player4

It will notify you of any duplicate players, which some of you might find useful.   :)

Play with GEN3RIC on an R16 BC2CC server! (USA)

Posted by GEN3RIC

Today I'm going to be testing some stuff and want to fill up a server.  If you're willing to help, just search BC2CC in the server browser to find it.  If you cannot find it, remember to not filter out hardcore, full/empty, just in case. :)

Thanks!

R16 releasing soon to fix rubberbanding, “unban” crashes

Posted by GEN3RIC

Some bugs that you've reported have turned out to be related to issues with the server, and no any tool in particular.  To fix the "rubberbanding", or packet loss, that the community is abuzz about, R16 servers are being released on what should be Saturday.  Also what seems to be plaguing random servers is the banList.remove command, which seems to have the capability of killing a server by sending it into an infinite loop.  This is also being fixed in the R16 release, so you will be able to unban players once again.

It should be a painless update and will not require an update for BC2CC...but if you're the curious type, another update is in the works to fix some bugs and add some new features ... VOTEKICKING!

I can't wait to hear all the feedback you'll have. ;)

Update Available (2.0.1.3)

Posted by GEN3RIC

When you start BC2CC, it will automagically update, so long as you don't hit 'skip'.  :)   I've been listening to your feedback very carefully, and have pushed out some minor updates to fix issues that you have all enthusiastically and promptly reported.  Here is what should be fixed, but of course if you're experiencing otherwise, report it in the comment area.

Added features

  • Right click a player to give them a reserved slot.  Optionally, send them a notification of their newly granted slot.
  • When slaying a player from the context menu, you can send them a message telling them they were slayed by the admin. This can help avoid the server getting a bad reputation.
  • Both Add As Admin and Add to Reserved will be grayed out if they are already on the list.  No sense in doubling up efforts.
  • Added Rules to Auto Admin.  This can replace your PB tasks if you don't mind a simpler solution.
    • It is currently limited to Say only while some kinks are worked out with the optional Yell version.
    • Players can access the rules at any time using !rules
    • Admins can send abusive players the rules by using the command /!rules playername
      • Remember, you only need to get the first few letters of their name, not their clan tag of course.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the Name & Shame, First Kill, Kill Streak, Ace Player areas where a bug was preventing Enabled & number variables from saving.
  • Fixed the quite common [for everybody but the developers] bug being reported regarding PunkBuster "Incorrect string format"
    • It's cropped up many times after alleged fixes, so I am wary to say I have fixed it. Please inform us if you're getting it.

Official 2.0 Release

Posted by GEN3RIC

On Wednesday, DICE will deliver the simultaneous release of the R8 client and R15 servers. The next version of BC2CC will take advantage of all the new features built into the new server protocol. Before you all rush off to install this, please note that your server must be upgraded in order for you to connect to it. With this revision we are introducing a new installation package which provides a much easier installation and updating procedure.

You will not have to set your servers up again and your preferences will be saved, so the upgrade process should be painless. BC2CC requires the .NET 4 Framework, and if it is not installed, the installer will provide a link for you to download and install. No restart is necessary. You can install this update parallel to your current version of 1.2.1, so if you have older servers, use the old version of BC2CC. The new version will warn you if you attempt to connect to a server that is not compatible.

So what's in this release? Lots. DICE gave us plenty of facetime with the new rcon protocol so we have some exciting features. Here's the rundown.

Player List

  • Tickets displayed on player list
  • Player kit info is visualized by mouse over
  • Session actions: restart round, skip round, or end round (allows you to choose the winner)
  • Kit Icon for players
  • Improved Kick/Ban system [allows you to write in a reason]

Server List

  • More accurate player counts
  • Restart a server which you are connected to (warning, any server variables not set in startup.txt could be overwritten)

Map Options

  • Drag & Drop maps to and from the playlist

Server Options

  • Allowed to set the server name from the tool now
  • Server description length is 400 chars and a pipe '|' inserts a line break
  • Addition of idle timeout (0 removes the timeout entirely)
  • Enable/Disable the profanity filter in chat
  • Advanced Team Kill rules
  • Per-Level variable customization

Miscellaneous

  • Reserved slots was improved in server code.  Add as many to the list as you want, it will not reduce your max capacity
  • Added admin console to directly execute commands for advanced users
  • Yell from chat area allows you to choose the duration (saves to preferences)
  • Welcome Message (found in server details.  Right click server > Edit) is now sent when the player spawns. Make sure to change this, it is now recommended to be 0-10 seconds

Auto Admin

  • Kill Streak
    • Choose advanced options like when the streak starts and what the intervals are
    • Set custom phrases for beginning, continuing, and ending a streak. Hover over the text box to see the variables to use in your phrase
  • First Kill / First Dogtag
    • Notify the server of the first kill of the match
    • Dogtag mode lets you set a custom phrase for when the first dogtags are taken
  • Ace Player
    • If somebody is leading the pack, this lets the server know.
    • Set it to a timed interval so they aren't annoyed by the notifications
    • Choose custom phrases for notifications with variables (hover over to see them)
  • Name & Shame
    • A potentially hilarious mod that will notify the server if somebody is killed with an embarrassing weapon.
    • Choose from a preset list of weapons that are difficult or embarrassing to kill with
    • Set a custom phrase for each weapon
  • Assassination
    • This mode lets players volunteer themselves to be assassins.
    • 2 players are pitted against each other.  Others may help, but YOU must kill them to win
    • Optionally, you can allow the player to know the kit they're using, and every time they spawn they are updated
    • Time limited
    • Always-On function will keep the ball rolling as long as it's enabled.  Otherwise, an in-game command must be used to start the game.
  • War
    • For serious league play.
    • Enter a phrase, and a countdown (in seconds), and when the countdown reaches 0, the map restarts, thus beginning a live match
    • Optionally, players can !ready before the match will start
  • Public Commands
    • !admins
      • show admins registered on the server
    • !calladmin
      • send a message to all admins
    • !disconnect
      • a fun and frivolous way to disconnect!
    • !serverinfo
      • see the vital information of the server like maplist, server name, etc
    • !statsme
      • view stats of how many times you've killed or died, grouped by weapon
    • !maplist
      • returns the maplist
    • Notifications
      • Alert the server when an admin is joining the game
      • Advertise that you are using BC2CC and that public commands exist. This is an unobtrusive message flashed once when they join. (Recommended to use "say" mode)

That's a big update! So what's not in this update? Missing in this update is a !rules public command which will display a list of rules you have set.  This will eliminate the need to use Punkbuster Tasks (an overtly complicated and message system), handy if you are not using PB.  Also, these rules can optionally be displayed when a player enters the server.  Class and weapon restrictions are also not included in this release, but will be added shortly.  Please note, restrictions cannot be added if you are running a ranked server due to the server TOS.  If it were allowed, your server can and likely will be canceled.  Also missing: tight server/Twitter integration with possibility to respond to @mentions and adds with in-game notifications of followers.  This will be heavily tested prior to release to ensure there is no abuse.  Votekick will be added in the next few days, look for an update when you start BC2CC.

Why? Because things take a long time, and this is our hobby.  Support us if you appreciate what we do for you!

BC2CC 2.0 Playtesting

Posted by GEN3RIC

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm sure you guys will like this preview video.  In the video I demonstrate Assassination mode and the Name and Shame notification.  These are both very customizable so you can set all kinds of variables per mod.  This will be available as soon as the R8 patch is available.  You must have R15 code installed on your server or 2.0.0 will not run.  There are a great deal of small changes and improvements, so look forward to a complete post this weekend!

Download Video or MP3

BC2CC supports these public commands for any players to use.

General
!admins lists admins
!calladmin [message] send a PM to all admins in the server and in the admin tool UI
!disconnect disconnect!
!serverinfo in case you forget where you are, or what's going on, since BC2 doesn't let you know!
!statsme session stats.
!maplist the map rotation

Mod-specific
!firstkill see who got the first kill
!firstdogtag see who got the first dogtags
!killstreak see who is on a killstreak
!nameandshame see who got shamed this round

The tool also has War mode for matches that allows all players to !ready before the war starts, ace player notifications, kill streak.. highly customizable so if something is annoying, you don't have to deal with it.

Sign up for BC2CC closed beta

Posted by Ramon - i3D

Hi everyone!

We're going to start the closed beta of the BC2CC Daemon soon. Currently we're working hard on getting the last major issue sorted out before we start closed beta and stress testing.

I'm sure some of you are wondering what the advantage of using a daemon is, so let me clarify:

A Daemon is basicaly a command line version of the BC2CC tool. The program runs on the i3D.net dedicated servers and offers a lot of increased functionality compared to regular admin functionality. It's still in development and features are constantly being added.

All settings saved in BC2CC will be permanently applied to your server, you will be able to add admin accounts, giving each user specific access to admin settings. Don't want a new member to have ban priviliges but want him to be able to kick? Create his admin account and there you go! Ingame administrator settings no longer require the BC2CC tool to run anymore either!

The biggest improvement comes in the form of auto-admin. Since the tool monitors the chat and player progress 24/7 it allows us to monitor much more efficient for people breaking server rules, spawnkilling, profanity etc. It also allows for additional options such as mapvotes, kickvotes, killstreaks, top player, twitter integration etc.

So as you can see the daemon adds a lot of additional functionality that makes managing  Bad Company 2 servers much much easier.

We are now accepting closed beta applications for the BC2CC Daemon. Apply by sending an email to beta@bc2cc.com with the following information:

Your name
Your Server IP
Your Servers gametracker link
Your email address
Your
i3D.net forum account name
Your gameservers provider

We will pick a limited number of people for initial testing. Later we will increase the amount of people for stress testing and eventually everyone can sign up for the Daemon.

Do you have any additional features you'd like to see in the Daemon, feel free to post them!

Auto Admin Preview

Posted by GEN3RIC

It's possible that this coming week will be the release of the long-awaited patch.  Recently I posed the question to all of you to let us know what you want to see and here is an early preview at how you might set up these features.  Keep in mind this is early and most definitely subject to change.

Auto Admin

Kill Streak Info

What we have planned here is a pretty standard notification system for displaying player's kill streaks and when they have ended [and by whom].  It is designed to be as versatile as possible so you can even go so far as to creating the phrase displayed to make it your own.

Notifications

The notification section  is a system for letting players know when admins join the server (and how the alert is displayed), and whether or not to advertise BC2CC's public commands function (and the interval at which it will be displayed).  For more information on what public commands are, read ahead.

Public Player commands

Public commands are any commands that can be executed by any player on the server.  The command will be displayed as a regular chat message, so it provides a high level of discovery and promotes player-server interaction that can help liven up the server and bring in players that may otherwise go elsewhere.  The list shown in the screenshot is quite self-explanatory, but if you have any questions regarding functions, feel free to ask away in the comments.

Added installer version of BC2CC

Posted by Jokemaster13

On the old version of the site we had a download link to the installer of BC2CC on the frontpage. Sadly we forgot to add that during the launch of the new site. So I fixed that. :)

Check it out here :
